Vincent van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise

Discover the places of the great painters around Paris

Do you know the area around Paris with its rich and cultural history? 30 km to the North, in Auvers-sur-Oise, we go back in time and meet the painter Vincent van Gogh who has spent the last days of his life in this place. Auvers-sur-Oise, officially the "city of the Impressionists", is without any doubt the place where the paintings of Van Gogh still come to life. Like if we walk right into his paintings!

In the footsteps of Van Gogh we'll see all the places where we find his paintings. The typical roofs in the scenic streets, the Town Hall, the garden of Daubigny and of course the famous wheat fields.

We are invited in Doctor Gachet's house. Here, we'll discover a place where ancient and modern art comes together. Van Gogh often came there and painted multiple canvases.

We descend the stairs of Auvers, off to the Ravoux's Inn, the house where Van Gogh lived. We'll visit the room where Vincent spent the last days of his life and where he died on 29 July 1890 in the arms of his brother Theo.

We continue our tour to the town hall and the parc Van Gogh where we see the statue of Vincent, created by Zadkine.

Via the garden of Daubigny, where we see the similarity with the real Garden, we walk towards the Church of Auvers.

We all know the famous wheat fields, but did you know that these fields are in Auvers? We enter the fields and see them as Van Gogh so often has seen them. He made several paintings of the fields. Without any doubt, the most famous is Wheat field with crows.

We finish the tour at the cemetery of Auvers. Vincent and his brother Theo are both buried there. Today, people from all over the world come there to bring a tribute to the artist.
