Claude Monet in Giverny
Discover the places of the great painters around Paris
Do you know the surrounding around Paris with its rich and cultural history? At 60 km west, in Normandie, we'll travel back in time and meet the artist Claude Monet in his village Giverny. At his house, the artist has build his magnificant gardens, which were more then 30 years the subjects in his paintings.


When we arrive in Giverny, we will be received by the statue of Claude Monet. We'll go up the rue Claude Monet to visit the l'ancien hôtel Baudy, the hotel of the amercian impressionists. In the rosegarden we still find the same atmosphere as William Metcalf and the Givernists has found when they came to paint there. A lot of artists like Manet, Pissarro, Degas en Renoir have painted there.
We continue our tour in the direction of the church and the cemetery where the artist and his famely are buried. Nowadays, people from all over the world come to visit the cemetery and bring a homage to the artist.
When we arrive at Monet's house, we'll visit his gardens en step literal into his soul. The first garden is the Normandic flowergarden. Monet designed the whole garden on a base of different colours. He planted several ornamental- and apple trees and created different flower gardens. We recognize a lot of these flower gardens in his paintings. So to tell in short: it's really an unbelievable beautiful and dreamlike garden!


In 1893, Monet started with the realisation and decoration of his second garden that we know as the watergarden. He created an enormous pond and planted the famous waterlilies and of course we'll walk over the japanese bridge. A visit to the watergarden proufs that the paintings of Monet are still very much alive.
We end our tour by visiting the house and the ateliers where Monet has lived for more than 35 years and where the artist created most of his paintings.
